Sight-reading with your instrument
Play each note you see on your own instrument. The microphone listens and moves on when you get it right.
Press Start, allow the microphone and play the highlighted note.
Leave this on for guitar (which sounds an octave lower than written), bass and voices. Turn it off to require the exact octave.
How it works
- Choose the clef and range that match your instrument and level.
- Press Start and allow microphone access. The sound is analyzed on your device and never recorded.
- Play the highlighted note. When it is right, it turns green and the next note lights up.
- Use “Hear it” if you are stuck, and “Skip” to move on. Every line of eight notes shows your time and misses.
Tips for better sight-reading
Look one note ahead: while you play the current note, your eyes should already be on the next one. Learn a few landmark notes (middle C, the G and F of each clef) and read the rest as steps and skips from them.
