About the major pentatonic scale
The major pentatonic uses five notes of the major scale, leaving out the fourth and seventh. It is impossible to sound wrong with it, which makes it a favorite for melodies and solos in pop, country and rock. Step pattern: W – W – W+H – W – W+H. W = whole step (2 frets), H = half step (1 fret).
